Reprinted from the high-end clothing exchange circle

As the prices of textile raw materials increase, the prices of sewing threads, especially high-end sewing threads, continue to rise. However, most of the current methods for clothing companies to calculate the amount of sewing thread are estimated based on production experience. Most of the sewing threads are often in oversupply and open supply. They do not realize the value of sewing thread management.

1. Significance of accurate calculation of dosage:

(1) The use of sewing thread is an important factor for enterprises to calculate the production cost of clothing;

(2) Calculate the amount of sewing thread used, which can reduce the waste and backlog of sewing thread, and reduce the amount of sewing thread for enterprises to save inventory area and reduce inventory pressure, thereby reducing production costs and maximizing profit space;

(3) The assessment of the consumption of sewing thread can improve the employees' awareness of the sewing specifications and quality;

(4) The worker can be reminded to change the thread in time by calculating the amount of sewing thread. When the stitching of the open thread such as jeans is not allowed, the amount of thread should be carefully calculated to reduce the excess of thread removal caused by insufficient sewing thread, thereby improving Productivity;

2. Calculation method of the amount of sewing thread

The calculation of the amount of sewing thread is usually obtained by the estimation method of the enterprise, that is, the length of the stitch line is measured by the CAD software, and the total length is multiplied by a factor (generally 2.5 to 3 times the total length of the stitch).

The consumption of sewing thread of a piece of clothing = the sum of the consumption of sewing thread of all parts of the garment × (1 + wear rate).

The estimation method cannot accurately obtain the amount of sewing thread. There are two scientific methods for calculating the amount of sewing thread:

1. Formula method

The principle of the formula method is to use a mathematical geometric curve length method for the stitch structure, that is, to observe the geometry of the coil cross-connected in the sewing material, and use the geometric formula to calculate the consumption of a circulating line.

By calculating the length of a stitch stitch (including stitch stitch length + stitch amount at stitch intersection), and then converted into the amount of stitches per meter stitch, and then multiplied by the overall stitch length of the garment.

The formula method combines the stitch density, the thickness of the sewing material, the yarn count used, the slit width of the overlock and the stitch length. Therefore, the formula method is a more accurate method, but it is relatively complicated to use. Specifications, styles, sewing process, thickness of sewing material (gray cloth), number of stitches, stitch density, etc. are all very different, which brings too much inconvenience to calculation, so companies basically do not use it.

2. Stitch-line length ratio

Stitch-thread length ratio, that is, the ratio of stitch length of car stitch to length of consumed stitch. This ratio can be calculated according to actual production measurement or according to formula method. There are two methods of testing: stitch length fixing method and stitch length fixing method.

Sewing thread length method: Before starting sewing, measure a certain length of suture on the pagoda line and make a color mark. After sewing, measure the number of stitches formed by this length, so as to estimate the long seam per meter The amount of traces consumed.

Stitch length setting method: first sew with different thickness of sewing material, then cut a section where the stitch shape is better, dismantle the stitches carefully, measure the length or weight, and then convert it The amount of thread (length or weight) per meter long seam.

Because the "stitch-thread length ratio" calculation of the amount of sewing thread is relatively simple, and the calculation result is accurate, it is widely used in clothing manufacturers.

3. Factors affecting the amount of sewing thread

The amount of sewing thread consumption is not only closely related to the length of the sewing pattern, but also closely related to the thickness and twist of the sewing thread itself, the structure and thickness of the fabric, and the density of the needle code during the sewing process.

However, the actual variability and flexibility make the calculation results of the sewing thread have a large deviation. The other main influencing factors are:

1. Elasticity of fabric and thread: Both the sewing material and the thread have a certain elasticity. The greater the elastic deformation, the greater the influence on the calculation of the amount of thread. In order to make the calculation results more accurate, for the thick and thin fabrics with special structure and the sutures of special materials, a correction factor needs to be added to adjust.

2. Output: In the case of a large number of production, as the proficiency of workers gradually increases, the proportion of losses will be relatively reduced.

3. Finishing: The washing or ironing of fabrics or clothing will cause the problem of shrinkage of the clothing, which needs to be appropriately increased or decreased.

4. Employee: During the use of the suture, due to the different operating habits of the employees, human error and consumption are generated. The consumption is made according to the technical conditions and actual experience of the factory. This waste can be reduced through correct operation guidance.

Sewing thread factory

The competition in the apparel industry is becoming more and more fierce. Enterprises should have a suitable sewing thread calculation method to help manage the sewing thread and provide a reference for saving production costs.
